Ode to Fangirls

Ode to Fangirls is my ongoing art/research project where I write and draw about the intersection of feminism and fandom. The experience of being a fangirl within our patriarchal society is something I have been thinking about since I was a teenager, and during the pandemic I had some time to express these ideas into work. I started with a series of gouache paintings depicting girls at concerts, and moved on to hand painted lettering pieces, digital collage, portrait drawings and writing. I created a gallery website to present my work, and started a dedicated Instagram account to connect with others and start a dialogue.
